The editor noticed my participant numbers didn't add up between the methods and results chapters (n=112 vs n=121). Typo on my part but a marker would have hammered me for it.
They made me look way smarter than I am and I'm fine with that
They caught that I cited Smith (2019) in text but Smith (2018) in the references. Six times across the document with different authors. Crazy
Editor told me my conclusion had a sentence that was literally 97 words long. That's a paragraph not a sentence lol. Fixed now
They were upfront that a full developmental edit would cost more and suggested proofreading was enough for my draft. Honest, not trying to upsell
